On Kornheiser:

Overall, I'm a fan, but lately his naivete has gotten more and more aggravating. I guess it might be too much to expect him to know about tennis, but his main weakness was exposed: There's no fault in not knowing every fact about every sport. Sports ignorance is prevalent, inevitable, and forgivable. But why does he have to deliver his opinion as if it is law on subjects he is clearly clueless about? Neither him nor Wilbon could even pronounce Novak Djokovic's name, and they felt qualified to judge the merit of his win over Federer in the Roger's Cup. I guess I will post about why the win was so bug, and why men's tennis is sorely overlooked, but guys, at least plead the 5th when you are clueless.

Right on.

I'm even the kind of uptight white guy that finds taunting, and the "my dick is bigger than your dick" disgusting enough to change the channel.

But Johnson is just a naturally hilarious guy. I don't think I've laughed harder at many athlete's quotes, he's right up there with Shaq, and a select few sports stars who actually have a real sense of humor. The whole hitting a reindeer and keeping it hostage in his garage thing regarding his X-Mas surprise celebration is the funniest thing I've ever heard come out of an athlete's mouth. He's just a goofy dude, and gets it.

It's all about intent...if he doesn't take himself seriously, the league is the entity that makes it an issue. If it were up to Johnson, it would just be fun, goofy shit, but the league insists on turning the celebrations into something far worse than they would be without its interference.

Very interesting. Actually managed to sway my opinion. You purposefully skewed the numbers to make your point though.

Garnett got 1.6 Reb/game more, not just 1. And Webber scored 0.4 pts/game more than Garnett, not a fill point. If we are rounding the numbers, why does less than 1/2 get stretched to 1 full point, but 1.6 Rebounds dropped to just 1?

All said, I really dig the comparison, especially if Webber wasn't a bit of a locker room liability, and didn't have a much better supporting cast overall.

There's no such thing as a healthy Shaq anymore. Way too many miles on a 350-pound 35 year-old body. No team whose marquee free-agent signing is Smush Parker is better than the Celtics. Without Kapono they will miss the playoffs. Chicago will have a repeat performance of last year without a real big man in the middle. Wallace is done, and even if he wasn't they have no reliable, high percentage scoring, or one-on-one low-post defense. In other words no shot in the playoffs. Barring injury, the Celtics are a decent backup swingman from being the #3 threat to the Finals.
